SPECIAL EDUCATION BIOLOGY TEACHER, Springboard Program Certified Position Full Time, 10-month Affiliation: Teachers’ AssociationExceptional Education Department Location: BOCES Smith School, Ithaca, NYDUTIES: Responsible for providing engaging and inquiry-based high school Biology instruction with an eye toward the implementation of the NYS Next Generation Standards to students in the Springboard middle and high school programs in Exceptional Education. Teacher will have freedom to prioritize content, design curricula and laboratory experiences, and create an instructional space that meets the learning needs of our students. Responsible for case management duties of homeroom and Individualized Education Plans complete with progress monitoring. Must be a flexible, out of the box thinker who is dedicated to collaboration with colleagues in the program and with vocational programming to prioritize student transition planning. Maintain student records consistent with State and Federal regulations. Perform other duties as required.* This position requires the ability and desire to work with school age students with learning, emotional and behavioral disabilities 12:1:1 BOCES setting. QUALIFICATIONS: Must be New York State Certified Students with Disabilities 7–12 Generalist OR hold Permanent NYS Special Education Cert.
