Tiegerman Woodside (QUEENS) is seeking dedicated and passionate Special Education Elementary Teacher to join our team for the 2025-2026 School Year. Full-time positions still available! Tiegerman is a 12-month program.Hours: 7:30AM-3:45PMResponsibilitiesSupervise students in the classroom and all other areas of the school buildingRead, understand, and implement each student’s Individualized Education Plan.Participate in the development of Individualized Education Plans to address the needs of individual studentsPlan instruction and learning objectives aligned with the New York State and Common Core Learning Standards and IEPs utilizing the school’s established curriculumAdapt instruction and materials to meet the individual needs, strengths, and interests of all studentsConduct ongoing assessment of student progress toward learning objectives and individual goals through formative and summative assessment in order to inform instruction and provide feedback to students, parents, administrators, and school districtsEstablish and communicate the responsibilities and expectations of Teacher AssistantsWrite and submit lesson plans, unit plans, annual classroom reports, and other assigned paperwork in accordance with established guidelines and schedulesParticipate in a weekly grade-level planning period to collaboratively develop monthly unit plans and assessments, review completed student assessments, and generate action plansManage student behavior in the classroom according to the classroom management plan, Behavior Intervention Plans, and student Code of ConductCollaborate with members of the educational, therapeutic, and administrative staff to plan and implement instructional and behavior management goals and methodsEstablish and maintain open communication and a collaborative partnership with parents through conferences and telephone and notebook communicationsParticipate in staff development activities to improve instructional, curriculum, and classroom management knowledge and skillsParticipate in various staff meetings as scheduled (i.e., student “staffing”, transdisciplinary meetings, teacher meetings, etc.)Report incidents (i.e., accidents, unsafe conditions, suspected abuse, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining the health and welfare of students and the safety of the school environment in accordance with the state regulations and school policiesRequirementsMinimum Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field; certification in SWD 1-6 or SWD all gradesProven experience working with children in a classroom setting, particularly those with disabilities or developmental challenges.Strong knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education practices.Familiarity with learning technology tools that enhance educational experiences for students with special needs.Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively collaborate with students, families, and colleagues.Experience in curriculum development tailored to diverse learning styles and needs.Ability to implement behavior management strategies that promote positive behavior among students.Tiegerman is an EEO and AA Employer
