Tiegerman Schools and Community Services is a non-profit programming working with students and adults with developmental disabilities. Tiegerman is looking for a Facilities Specialist to join our facilities department. This is a full time position with benefits. We have several locations throughout Long Island and Queens. This position will be based out our Elementary School located in Glen Cove.Under the supervision of the Facilities Director, performs repairs and preventive maintenance on a wide variety of building and facility equipment, fixtures and systems.RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but are not limited to):Maintain a safe and clean work environmentPerform outside custodial duties such as snow removal and property clean upResponsible for the cleanliness of classrooms, hallways, offices, stairways and windowsAssist with any remodeling to the buildings (ie. moving staff offices, and/or classrooms)Assist IT department with installation of computer equipmentSKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:Knowledge of the common maintenance trades such as carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical, and/or machine & equipment repairsAbility to effectively manage multiple projects and competing prioritiesAbility to accomplish projects independently or with minimal supervisionAbility to think creatively and recommend smart and both cost effective and cost containment solutionsMS Office proficiency including Word, Excel, and Outlook including electronic mail and calendaring featuresCommunication skills (oral, electronic, and written)REQUIREMENTS:Must have valid NYS drivers license - travel required to other program locationsMust be able to work extended hours and/or weekends as neededMust be able to lift up to 25lbs unassistedAble to stand for long periods of time, climbing up and down ladders, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, and stretching may be required to perform the functions of this positionTiegerman is an EEO and AA employer
