Tiegerman School and Community Services is a non-profit organization servicing children with developmental disabilities from preschool through grade 12 with services extending into adulthood for developmentally disabled adults.At Tiegerman, we rely on a meticulous financial system to drive business forward. Our accounts receivable department keeps that system running smoothly by managing cash influx, and collecting payment. We’re searching for a skilled bookkeeper for our accounts receivable team to help process, track, and record payments in an accurate, efficient, and timely manner. The accounts receivable specialist will have both a day-to-day and ongoing impact on financial transactions, keeping us on track, on time, and on good terms with our student body and their families to which we serve. The Accounts Receivable Bookkeeper is responsible for recording and maintaining financial records for Tiegerman. The Bookkeeper reports directly to the Assistant Controller. No NYSED Certification is required. The Bookkeeper is a full time non-exempt position. This is an in-person position reporting to our Muttontown office. COVID-19 vaccine required.Duties and ResponsibilitiesPrepare billings for all school related programsRecord day to day accounts receivable invoicing and paymentsMaintain accounts receivable records to ensure aging is up to date, credits and collections are applied, uncollectible amounts are accounted for, and miscellaneous differences are clearedMonitor and collect accounts receivable by contacting customers via telephone, email, and mailPerform daily cash management duties, including the recording of bank deposits, updating and distribution of cash receipt logs, and posting of cash to the accounts receivable sub-ledgerPrint month end accounts receivable reportsPrepare month end sales reportPrepare cash receipts reportCustodian for petty cashSupport other Business Office team membersSkills and QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalentThree or more years of experience in an accounts receivable or accounts payable environmentExperience with invoicing and data entry softwareStrong mathematical skillsStrong communication and interpersonal skillsProficiency in English and in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)High degree of accuracy and attention to detailExperience with NYSED and OPWDD preferredTiegerman is an EEO and AA employer.
