IN ADDITION TO APPLYING ON OLAS, TO COMPLETE THE APPLICATION PROCESS PLEASE VISIT OUR WEBSITE AT:www.swboces.org/JoinOurTeamPRIMARY PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:Responsible for teaching HVAC which is a two-year program that provides both classroom and practical experience for students interested in HVAC.Create and implement lessons aligned with industry standards, covering HVAC principles, system components, electrical circuits, trouble shooting and maintenance procedures.Teaches the proper use of scientific equipment and instruments, relevant industry safety measures, and OSHA workplace requirements.Observe and evaluate students’ work to assess progress, provide feedback and make suggestions for improvement.Provide students with high-level training which will prepare them for college or a career.Instruct, lead and facilitate the development of student learning in citizenship, teamwork, project-based learning and collaborative problem solving.Develop and plan high quality, rigorous lessons which maximize instructional time and are relevant to student learning objectives and are in alignment with the New York State Next Generation Learning Standards.Differentiate lessons and instruction to meet the needs of all learners, including special education students.Prepares, administers and grades tests and assignments to evaluate students’ progress and monitor students’ comprehension of contentManage the storage, maintenance, and use of materials and school property.Communicate with parents, and school counselors regarding individual student progress.Identify student needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in developing strategies to meet individual needs.Participate with workforce partners in the development and implementation of specific vocational education programs and Work-Based learning experiences.Assist in district follow-up studies and evaluations of programs and post-graduation data.Prepare progress reports.Select and requisition books, instructional aids, equipment, tools, materials, supplies, and parts as required, working within established budget and procedures. QUALIFICATIONS:New York State Teaching Certification: Career and Technical Education Teacher: Architecture and Construction: Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration or eligibility to apply for Initial or Transitional – A Certification.Up-to-date knowledge competence in all aspects of HVAC that includes teaching theoretical and practical concepts, strategies and techniques necessary to pursue a career in HVAC that include residential and commercial applications, electrical theory and troubleshooting techniques.Excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills.Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
