If adequately certified, the director supervises the respective staff.Qualifications: New York State Education Department School Administrator certification (Preferred); New York State Education Department Teacher Certification; Five years of teaching experience or comparablePlease include the following attachments as part of your complete application:Current ResumeCompleted ApplicationKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND PERFORMANCE CHARACTERISTICS:GENERALPositive attitudeStrong Work EthicTeam PlayerOrganizedFlexibleConfidentialEnergeticRespectfulGood listening skillsAbility to communicate both orally and verballyWilling to take directionSensitive to student and family issuesAbility to remain calm during stressful situationsWilling to become part of the school community and be responsive to the needs of the districtPERFORMANCE DUTIES:Provide leadership in setting goals, objectives, and philosophy for the Athletic ProgramEnsures that NYS Public High School Athletic Association, Section X, and local school district regulations are faithfully observedPrepare the annual athletic budget with input from the coaching staffOversee the distribution and collection of athletic equipment, supplies, and materialsMaintain an accurate inventory and have appropriate equipment reconditionedArrange, assist, and cross-reference physical examinations for athletes in coordination with the school nursePrepare for all home contests: i.e., chaperones, set up and take down, game vouchers, medical personnel, scorekeepersSchedule practice facilities weekly for each team and contact coaches, building custodians, maintenance, and office personnelWork with maintenance and custodial staff in overseeing the care and preparations of athletic facilitiesRepresent the school district at league, section, and state meetingsArrange the awards ceremonies on a seasonal basisCancel and reschedule athletic events and practices as necessary: officials, schools, news media, bus garage, coaches, and section Office.Make arrangements for travel, food, and lodging at the State ChampionshipsKeep staff current in first aid, CPR, and coaching certificationSupervise the Selected Classification Testing for the Athletic ProgramSupply all relevant information to the coaching staff, school principal, and superintendent as needed.Coordinates the collection of rosters for submissions to Section XAttend home athletic contests as arranged with the administration, ensuring as much as possible that either an administrator or the athletic director is present at all home contests. If the AD is coaching, availability may be limited for home contests, as they cannot act as Coach and AD concurrentlyServe and chair the Sports Committee, providing reports at this meetingProvide an AD report monthly to the Board of EducationProvide oversight of academic ineligibility for all student-athletesOTHERPerforms other duties as required or assignedWe will review applicants on a rolling basis
