Job Summary: The Teaching Assistant will support classroom teachers in providing instructional services to students. This role involves working with individual pupils or groups on special instructional projects, assisting in the development of instructional materials, and utilizing special skills in areas such as foreign languages, arts, crafts, and music.Key Responsibilities:Assist teachers with classroom management and instruction.Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning concepts.Provide information to teachers that will assist in the development of appropriate learning experiences.Help students use instructional resources effectively.Assist in the preparation and development of instructional materials.Support instructional programs in specialized areas such as foreign languages, arts, crafts, and music.Perform related instructional work as required.Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent.Completion of the New York State Assessment of Teaching Assistant Skills (NYSATAS) testSuccessful completion of required workshops: Child Abuse Identification, School Violence Prevention and Intervention, and Dignity for All Students Act (DASA)Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and staff.Experience in educational settings preferred.Certification Levels:Level I: Entry-level certificate, valid for three years, renewable for an additional three yearsLevel II: Valid for three years, leads to Level III certificationLevel III: Continuously valid with required professional developmentPre-Professional: Advanced-level certificate, valid for five years, renewable with ongoing collegiate studyProfessional Development:Engage in ongoing professional development to maintain certification and enhance instructional skills
