Schroon Lake Central School DistrictThe Schroon Lake Central School District, a rural school serving approximately 250 students in grades preK-12, is located in scenic Adirondack Park approximately 90 minutes north of Albany and 60 minutes south of Plattsburgh. The PreK-12 building is situated in the heart of the town and seeks to serve and engage the entire community. The district is seeking a talented and visionary leader who can implement innovative initiatives and honor valued traditions. The ideal candidate will be:A charismatic school leader, who exercises good judgment in addressing the complex issues which arise in a PreK-12 setting;A team member who utilizes a collaborative approach to decision making, holding true to what is best for all students;A transparent, consistent, decisive leader who ensures that policies and procedures are properly implemented;An instructional leader, dedicated to using data to inform decisions that drive academic excellence;A dedicated leader, willing to develop a shared vision for the community and school;A person of integrity who communicates effectively with all stakeholders of the school;A kind, compassionate and student-centered individual who is invested in the personal fulfillment, mental health, and well-being of all students, honoring varied and alternative pathways to success, and is committed to developing strong positive relationships with every member of the school and community.General responsibilities of the position include: Assisting the Superintendent in leadership, coordination, supervision and management of the school program and operationsImplementing and enforcing school board policies, administrative rules, and regulationsDeveloping and maintaining an effective educational program consistent with the philosophy, policies, and goals of the School BoardOverseeing the administration of the schoolAttending monthly Board meetings as neededAssisting in the development and coordination of master scheduleAssisting in coordinating transportation, custodial, cafeteria, and other school support servicesMaintaining compliance with required state and federal mandates including those associated with student and building safety. Assisting in maintaining discipline throughout the student body; using restorative practices consistent with our current PBIS, dealing with special cases as necessaryPromoting and improving building-wide PBISSupervising teachers and departments as assigned by the Superintendent. Conducting Annual Professional Performance Review (APPR) evaluationsAnalyzing state and local performance data, making and implementing recommendations for improved student outcomesUsing data to identify professional development needs, performing related work as necessary. Supervising, developing, and providing oversight for after school programs, state testing, and other special programs. Supporting and attending after school eventsPerforming related work as necessary other duties as assigned by the SuperintendentThe Schroon Lake School District is offering a regionally-competitive compensation package. Salary is negotiated based on experience. New York State certification as a School Building Leader or School District Leader is required for appointment.
