Position available to start immediately.Position OverviewThe Schroon Lake Central School District is seeking a kind, compassionate, and skilled Teaching Assistant to support students across grade levels with both academic and behavioral needs. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with teachers, counselors, and administrators to ensure that every student is provided with a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide direct instructional support to individual students and small groups under the supervision of a certified teacher.Assist students in meeting academic goals by reinforcing classroom instruction and adapting materials as needed.Support students with behavioral and social-emotional needs using positive and proactive strategies.Foster a respectful, inclusive, and nurturing classroom environment that promotes engagement and success for all learners.Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, and related service providers to implement instructional and behavioral plans.Monitor student progress and communicate observations to the teacher and support team.Assist with classroom organization, preparation of instructional materials, and supervision of students in various settings (classroom, hallways, lunchroom, playground, etc.).Participate in professional development and training as required by the district and NYSED certification standards.QualificationsNew York State Teaching Assistant Certification (Level I, II, or III).Experience working with children in an educational setting preferred.Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues.Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help all students reach their potential.Strong communication and teamwork skills.Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to all district policies and regulations.Attributes of the Ideal CandidateApproaches each student with kindness and understanding.Demonstrates flexibility, initiative, and professionalism in supporting diverse learners.Committed to the mission and values of the Schroon Lake Central School community.Work Year and Compensation10-month position, following the school calendar.Salary and benefits per the current negotiated agreement and district policy.
