POSITION: Curriculum Coordinator (10-Month Position) Hours: 8:30 am – 3:00 pm Thursdays 8:30 am - 4:00 pmFollows 10 month educational calendar GENERAL DUTIES:Serve on the Emergency-Disaster Team.Serve on the CPI (Nonviolent Crisis Intervention) team.Develop teacher and student schedules.Develop school wide duty schedules including Breakfast, Lunch and Recess.Establish due dates for all required paperwork.Approve laminating, binding, and color copying.Develop a Budget proposal for curriculum needs.Be a visible presence throughout the day including breakfast, Lunch, Recess, Dismissal and office hours.CURRICULUM RELATED DUTIES1 Develop IEP updates, drafts, Teacher Reports with teacher prior to supervisor’s approval2 Review and approve class profiles3 Review monthly Unit Plans and Lesson Plan books to ensure accountability to balanced literacy and State Standards and all school curricula initiatives (Content Areas, Art, PE/Health and Library).4 Review and approve report cards and progress notes5 Develop agendas and schedules for educational consultants for all school wide initiatives related to curricula.6 Support peer coaching to foster professional development.7 Support mentor/mentee program8 Designate and support one teacher to manage inventory for each curriculum closet and materials (Math, Social Studies, Science and other materials).9 Designate and support one teacher from each Literacy team (Grades 3-5, Grades 6-8 & Special Needs) to be the “gatekeeper” of Unit of Study to keep the most current version on the public drive.10 Designate and support one teacher to manage the leveled book room.11 Keep inventory of all books for classroom libraries and guided reading collection.12 Keep inventory of all lending copies of materials for classroom including Fairview Learning books and cards. Visual Phonics binders, book and cards, Instrumental Enrichment (IE) teacher manuals, and Developmental Reading Assessment (DRA).13 Keep inventory of all consumable and non-consumable materials.14 Review and approve information included in students’ confidential folders.15 Review and approve students current level forms16 Review and approve students writing scale forms and writing portfolios.17 Collect and monitor all student formative assessment data (DRA, Fairview, word work, etc.)18 Collect and share staff’s feedback on use of curricular materials and initiatives.19 Ability to apply knowledge of current literature, trends and developments in the field of education.PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:1 New York State certification in Deaf Education; five years experience with Deaf students preferred.2 New York State certification in Administration (preferred)3 Knowledge of curriculum and instruction (Common Core State Standards, Individualized Educational Planning, NYS regulations, NYS Core Body of Knowledge, and Curriculum Development).4 SLPI rating score of advanced or above OR ASLPI rating score of level 4 or above.5 Good computer and presentation skills.PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS:Ability to establish collaborative relationships with students, staff, parents and outside consultants.Excellent command of written English (student reports reviews, unit plans and outreach correspondence).Ability to problem solve, multi –task in a flexible creative manner.Maintain a professional demeanor, be approachable.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS BEYOND PROFESSIONAL PREPARATION:Willingness to participate in in-service programs offered by school and to engage in course work recommended by administration as indication of continuing professional growth.Develop and maintain relationships with local, regional, and national organizations of their respective subjects.Ability to work with learners with all abilities.Ability to utilize multi-disciplinary recommendations, in overall programming and/or specificinterventionsPossess preventative behavior management skills that are positive and child-centeredAbility to work as a team with other staff in the classroom settingAbility to work collaboratively with school staff across grades, disciplines and responsibilitiesAdherence to SJSD Personnel Policies and School Procedure and Student Policy Manual REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:Executive DirectorSALARY RANGESchool Location Range of PayBronx, New York $66,960 - $110,490 Application Process: Interested persons – email a cover letter, resume and any copies of certifications to Personnel at personnel@sjsdny.org.
