The Madonna Heights School is a fully accredited New York State Regents Junior/Senior High School for adolescent girls who are struggling in their community school or live on the Madonna Heights campus at our Group Residence or Residential Treatment Facility. Small class sizes provide an active learning environment. Students have the opportunity to participate fully while receiving individual attention as they learn, explore and develop leadership potential. Day students are referred by their local school district.I. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:· Assists the teacher with the preparation of materials.· Assists students with behavioral/management needs.· Assists in crisis intervention for students.· Assists in the set up of equipment as needed in the science lab, computer lab, home and careers lab, gymnasium, and in the classrooms.· Provides direct supervision of students in all areas of the school.· Assists the teacher in completing students’ point sheets.· Responsible to record information regarding behavior time aways and passes on the back of the point sheet.· Complete the following reports when necessary: informationals, behaviorals, and incident reports.· Provide communication to members of the crisis team regarding any behavior requiring intervention.· Responsible to monitor the attendance of all students assigned to their class.· Maintain classroom logs.· Performs other tasks as assigned.· Attend all training provided by the school’s Principal for this position.II. QUALIFICATIONS:· High School Diploma· Acceptable clearance checks for State Central Register, Driver license and fingerprinting as required by the program.· Compliance with health regulations for physical/mantoux testing.· Attending TCI class for certification/re-certification and passing a test upon completion of course is a minimum requirement for employment.III RELATIONSHIP WITH OTHERS:· Be a team player.· Have a strong sensitivity to cultural differences present among SCO staff and clients within our organization.· Possess a strong belief in people’s ability to grow and change; forge a mutually respectful partnership with persons served and their families.· Ability to set limits and maintain helping role of practitioner and to intervene appropriately.IV. WORKING CONDITIONS:· We offer a holistic approach that includes trauma-informed care and treatment, helping young women to identify and address their problems while working towards their traditional school setting.V. SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY:· Practice in the scope of stated license and credentials.Adhere to the Code of Conduct of the State Regulations and SCO’s Code of Conduct.
