Modified Girls Swim Coach (Grades 7&8) Southern Cayuga Central School District Southern Cayuga Central School District is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Modified Swim Coach to support the development of student-athletes in our interscholastic swimming program. The Modified Swim Coach will work under the direction of the Varsity Head Coach and Athletic Director to provide a positive, instructional, and developmentally appropriate experience for student-athletes new to competitive swimming. Position Overview The Modified Swim Coach is responsible for the instruction, supervision, and development of student-athletes at the modified level. This position emphasizes skill development, sportsmanship, teamwork, and a positive introduction to interscholastic swimming. Responsibilities Assist in planning and conducting daily practices focused on skill development and safety Provide instruction in swimming techniques, conditioning, and race fundamentals Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive team culture Supervise student-athletes during practices, meets, and team activities Ensure student safety in and around the pool at all times Support athlete development appropriate to modified-level expectations (participation and growth-focused) Communicate effectively with the Varsity Head Coach and Athletic Director Reinforce school and athletic department expectations for behavior and sportsmanship Maintain appropriate supervision and adhere to all NYSPHSAA and district policies Qualifications Previous swimming experience as a coach and/or competitive swimmer preferred CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain prior to season start) Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills Ability to work effectively with middle school-aged student-athletes Understanding of safe aquatic practices and supervision requirements Valid NYS Coaching Certification preferred but not required Compensation $2235 (August 24 - October 20, 2026) Application Process Interested candidates should submit a letter of interest and resume through the application for support staff or OLAS application.
