Southern Cayuga Central School District (SCCS), located in the heart of New York State’s Finger Lakes region, is seeking a dynamic and dedicated AgriScience educator to join our team beginning with the 2026–2027 school year (on or about September 1, 2026). The selected candidate will also assume responsibilities as FFA Advisor starting in July 2026. About SCCS SCCS serves approximately 700 students across a single-campus setting spanning 162 square miles between Cayuga and Owasco Lakes. Conveniently located about 15 miles from Auburn and 25 miles from Ithaca, the district blends a rich agricultural heritage with a vibrant community of local business and higher education professionals. Facilities feature a dedicated agriculture classroom, lab space and greenhouse, planetarium, and swimming pool, supporting a well-rounded and innovative educational experience. Position Overview: The AgriScience Teacher will deliver a comprehensive program that prepares students for careers and postsecondary education in agriculture and related fields. Courses include plant and animal sciences, agribusiness, food science, and agricultural technology, along with future college-level opportunities. The program emphasizes hands-on learning through: Greenhouse management, Hydroponics and aquaponics systems, Raised-bed planting initiatives, Animal biology, and Technological applications. Key Responsibilities: - Teach a range of AgriScience courses aligned with district curriculum goals - Integrate technology into instruction, utilizing district-issued Chromebooks and Google for Education tools (provided to all students in grades 3–12) - Lead and grow the district’s FFA program as Advisor - Collaborate with faculty, administration, and community partners to support program development Program Support & Vision The SCCS AgriScience program is strongly supported by the community, Board of Education, and district leadership. There is a shared commitment to sustaining and expanding the program, with a clear vision for future growth in facilities and curriculum offerings.
