Position: Jr HS ELA Teacher (grade 8)Southern Cayuga CSD is seeking a full-time 1.0 tenure track Secondary English Teacher to join our team starting on or about May 8, 2023. This tenure track position will focus on teaching all ELA students in grade 8 (about 55 students) as well academic interventions (AIS) for ELA in grades 7, 8, and 9. The overarching focus of the 7th and 8th grade ELA curriculum is building students’ language arts skills as they develop knowledge about the world. Unit modules from EngageNY will be used to guide and focus the instruction of the Common Core curriculum for both grades. 8th grade units of study maybe found using this link to the curriculum map. During each year, normally in April or May, all students will take the ELA 7 and ELA 8 NYS assessments. START DATE: On or about May 8, 2023 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: The candidate should have:NYS Certification, Secondary English (7-12).Explicit knowledge of NYS ELA standards and understanding of data collection on priority standards.Effective communication skills to engage students, parents, colleagues and the school community as a whole.
