Scarsdale Middle School seeks a talented, experienced, and innovative educator to lead a remarkable learning community. The school spans grades 6-8, and offers a rich and varied educational program to the high-achieving student population of approximately 1,100 students. The school community boasts an accomplished faculty and staff of 190, along with an active, supportive parent body. Scarsdale Middle School focuses on developing each learner in a highly challenging, nurturing, and supportive intellectual environment.The position of Scarsdale Middle School Principal requires a leader with an extensive teaching and administrative background and a demonstrated record of accomplishment. The successful candidate for Principal will exhibit the following criteria: possess a deep knowledge-base developed through middle school experience coupled with a demonstrated understanding of the adolescent child.; demonstrate an understanding and appreciation of diversity, equity and inclusion, and communicate effectively with individuals from various backgrounds;exhibit effective instructional leadership, guiding and supporting faculty in the implementation of teaching practices;promote the integration of DEI topics across various subjects and school life, fostering an interdisciplinary approach to understanding and addressing issues related to diversity and equity;balance student, teacher, and parent perspectives and concerns, collaborate to make decisions that are in students’ best interest, and commit to keeping all stakeholders informed;create an environment that fosters mutual respect among students, parents, and teachers;be a strong advocate for children; andhold, or be eligible for, New York State SAS or SBL certification.
