Scarsdale School District is seeking reliable and safety-focused Part-Time Bus Drivers to transport students to and from afternoon and evening athletic events, practices, and competitions. This is a great opportunity for individuals looking for flexible, part-time work while supporting student activities.Key ResponsibilitiesSafely transport student athletes to and from athletic events, practices, and competitions.Check the operating condition of the bus before starting each trip and ensure the vehicle is in safe working order.Report any operational defects or mechanical issues immediately to a supervisor.Inform students of proper safety practices and ensure all safety procedures are followed.Maintain orderly conduct of students while on the bus.Keep the interior and exterior of the vehicle clean and neat.Maintain accurate records of mileage, routes, time, and incidents.Prepare and maintain maps of routes and pick-up/drop-off points.Communicate effectively with coaches, athletic staff, and transportation supervisors.May be required to operate a station wagon or other similar vehicle as needed.May be required to perform minor maintenance tasks on the vehicle.Follow all district policies, traffic laws, and safety regulations at all times.Scarsdale Public Schools is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Experience preferredSPECIAL NOTE: In addition to the above special requirements, candidates must satisfy the requirements for School Bus Driver as set forth in the Rules and Regulations of the New York State Commissioner of Education. New federal regulations require that, on or after October 1, 2005, a school bus driver with a New York State commercial driver license (CDL) must have a new “S” (school bus) endorsement. When the term “school bus” is used, the term is defined as a vehicle that is defined in Section 142 of the NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law (see below) and the school bus has a seating capacity of 16 or more adults (which includes the driver) or the school bus has a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of more than 26,000 lbs.
