We would encourage you to apply, even if you don't believe you meet every one of our qualifications described.Broad FunctionUnder the supervision of the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment, (AS of CIA) and in collaboration with a partner Elementary Math Teacher on Special Assignment (Math TOSA), the successful candidate will guide the classroom teachers and building administrators in critically integrating the new math program rollout. In addition, the Math TOSA will work alongside the AS of CIA and partner Math TOSA with the evaluation and evolution of programs, methods, and outcomes through the coordination of professional learning opportunities and the utilization of resources. The TOSA is an annually appointed position. Chief Duties and Responsibilities:Professional DevelopmentEngage in professional learning focused on the new math program and develop a deep and flexible understanding of the tools, processes, and structures necessary. Provide curriculum content and pedagogical support to K-5 teachers, district-wide, through individual meetings, workshops, model lessons, co-planning, co-teaching, coaching, and lesson studyConfer with teachers individually and in small groups on a variety of math-related topics. Work in collaboration and coordination with the partner Math TOSA and outside consultants.Curriculum and AssessmentSupport the implementation of the new math program and tools.Collaborate with principals and APs to implement district and building-level math initiatives and goals through various professional development opportunities.Support the implementation and review of K-5 district-wide math assessments. Research current trends in math education, and share and incorporate relevant findings with teachers and administrators. Coordinate and collaborate with K-5 teachers to align a math curriculum pacing and resource calendar.Support staff in analyzing results of math program assessments in order to drive instruction.CoordinationSupport the AS of CIA, elementary administrators, and teachers in all matters related to the elementary math curriculum, instruction, and assessment.Co-Chair the District-wide Elementary Math Committee.Attend grade-level meetings to listen to concerns, exchange ideas, and provide clarification and or training related to curriculum, instruction, and assessment. Collaborate to maintain the district Schoolwires page for the elementary math program.Coordinate with teachers and building administration, secretaries, and teachers to ensure all staff has the necessary math materials and resources to effectively teach the curriculum.Coordinate and present informational sessions during visits from other school districts when applicable.Conduct parent information sessions, both district-wide and school-based, when necessary.QualificationsThe Math TOSA must have elementary classroom experience, possess strong knowledge of math content, and be versed in current math pedagogical methods K-5.Possess excellent interpersonal skills and relationships.Value a collaborative decision-making process.
