Lead Teacher: Section 504 (This can be split between two teacher for grades 7-9 & 10-12)QualificationsState-issued teaching certification in Special Education, School Counseling, or other New York State Teaching Certification.Willingness to learn regulations governing Section 504 and the Americans with Disabilities Act.Willingness to learn the student management system (Frontline)Exceptional organizational and communication skills are essential to manage a large caseload and coordinate with various stakeholders.Key ResponsibilitiesStudent Identification and EvaluationReceive and process referrals for students in grades 7-12 who may require Section 504 accommodations.Coordinate the evaluation process, including gathering and reviewing relevant student data such as academic performance, medical records, and teacher observations.Serve as a point of contact for parents, students, and staff throughout the evaluation and eligibility determination process.Paperwork, Documentation, and MeetingsManage all Section 504 paperwork, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal and state regulations.Schedule and facilitate Section 504 team meetings with parents, students, teachers, and administrators to discuss eligibility and develop appropriate accommodation plans.Input and maintain all documentation related to Section 504 plans in the Frontline 504 system. This includes initial referral packets, diagnosis, meeting notes, and the final accommodation plans.Create finalized Section 504 plans to all relevant staff members, ensuring they understand and implement the accommodations correctly.Plan Creation and ImplementationDevelop individualized Section 504 plans that outline specific accommodations, modifications, and services needed to ensure students have equal access to the curriculum.Monitor the implementation of plans troubleshooting any issues that arise.Conduct annual reviews with administrators of Section 504 plans to assess their effectiveness and make necessary adjustments.Work with the 504 Compliance Officer (Director of PPS) to create drafts and finalize plans.
