Position Title: Athletic Director (Internal)Salary: $10,000 StipendImmediately Responsible to: Building Leader(s)Minimum Qualifications:Required: Knowledge of Athletic Rules and Regulations Philosophy aligned with the District's stated Mission and GoalsPreferred: NYS Certification in Physical EducationProven Administrative Experience/Leadership ExperienceSuch alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable. Essential Functions:Organizes and manages the Athletic budget and financial affairs of the school consistent with school district policies.Supervise the implementation of schedules (game and practice) of interscholastic athletic events in conjunction with the Building Level Administrators, Transportation and Facilities. Supervise, schedules, and provides training for event chaperonesRecruit and recommend coaches.Analyze needs and develop programs regarding in-service training for coaches. Observe and evaluate coaches. Ensure coaches maintain necessary certifications and arrange for training when necessary.Oversee Athletic Trainer.Work in conjunction with the Business Office in the development of budgetary needs and in the preparation of equipment lists for bid and shall maintain an accounting of athletic equipment throughout the District. Represent the school district in professional organizations at the local, regional and state levels.Record, maintain and keep current all recordkeeping as it relates to the athletic rosters, eligibility, etc.Establish and facilitate an athletic council comprised of student-athletes to foster sportsmanship, mentoring for athletes, community service, and gaining feedback to enhance programming. Be responsible for the planning and implementation of an annual Varsity Athletic Awards Ceremony. Performs such additional duties as may be assigned by the Superintendent of Schools.Additional Information:The Athletic Director shall be entitled to the following schedule modifications:The Athletic Director shall not be assigned a supervisory duty.Classroom Teachers who are traditionally assigned 6 classes will be provided with 2 additional duty-free periods each day, and teach a maximum of 4 periods.Classroom Teachers who are traditionally assigned 5 classes will be provided with 2 additional duty-free periods each day, and teach a maximum of 3 periods. STA Members who are not classroom teachers will not have any reduction in their caseload, but it is understood that they can arrange their schedule as necessary to meet the needs of their students and Athletic Director responsibilities. These individuals will have a professional period, prep period, lunch and two other duty free periods each day. The Athletic Director shall be responsible for, at no additional compensation, such duties as:A total of 50 virtual or in-person working hours (prorated if they do not start July 1st) as Athletic Director during the months of July and August;Supervision of athletic events as directed by the Building Principal; limited to up to 8 per sports season (Fall, winter and spring). The Athletic Director would not be compensated for post season contests. Beyond that, they would be entitled to the athletic chaperone compensation as specified in the STA contract with prior approval of the Building Principal.Evaluations of all coaching staff. The AD will not be compensated for evaluations during sporting events; andOther responsibilities deemed necessary by the Superintendent of Schools.Evaluation: The evaluation of the person filling this position is conducted by a certified administrator according to the current Bargaining Agreement.
