Position: School Psychologist - TermEffective: February 11, 2025 - June 30, 2025Salary: As per the STA ContractImmediately Responsible to: Appropriate Building Principal, Director of PPS, Director of Special EducationDescription:Minimum Qualifications:Required: Must possess a valid NYS Certificate & LicensePhilosophical compatibility with the stated mission and goals of the School DistrictPreferred: Ability to speak a Second Language (preferably Spanish)Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.Job Summary or Functions:Facilitating student success by assisting students, teachers, and parents in enabling students to derive the fullest potential educational experience from school by promoting positive self-esteem and resilience, and providing suggested methods and plans for overcoming psychological or mental health problems. This individual will have a caseload of Out-of-District and In-District students.Specific Responsibilities:Conducts psychological assessments, testing and diagnostic examinations of students for the purpose of recommending courses of action or corrective procedures to maximize learning and overcoming psychological issues.Conducts individual, group or facilitative therapy for students based on IEP goals.Assists with the identification and placement of all types of exceptional students.Coordinates with administrators and other teaching staff members to ascertain individual student's abilities and needs, including students with special needs, and to familiarize stakeholders with psychological services.Attends meetings as needed for students with special needs.Serves as a resource and consultant on mental health and child psychology, conducts in-service programs as requested.Conducts suicide and threat assessments as necessary.Serves as a ready resource to students to provide counseling that will lead each student to increased personal growth, self-understanding, and maturity.Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research, and by maintaining professional relationships.Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping and providing student information to prospective colleges and employers, as required by district procedures and applicable laws.Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.Selects and requisitions appropriate books, aids, and other supplies and equipment and maintains inventory records.Collaborates with community resources as appropriate.Assist with the District-Wide Crisis Team.Performs such additional duties as may be assigned by Supervisors.Provide IEP CounselingDASA CoordinatorSupport students and families with community supports.Evaluation:The evaluation of the person filling this position is conducted by a certified administrator according to the current Bargaining Agreement and APPR plan.We are an Equal Opportunity Employer and do not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race, color, sex, age, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, status as a veteran, and basis of disability or any other federal, state or local protected class.
