The Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk Central School District is looking for a dynamic and innovative leader to fill our Director of Transportation vacancy. This position involves the responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of the transportation program. The work is performed under the direction of the School Business Manager. Supervision is exercised over approximately 50 Bus Drivers and Monitors. Duties will include fostering a positive work environment, providing effective communication with staff, and developing innovative strategies to address operational challenges. This position is responsible for overseeing proper administration of the collective bargaining agreement. The successful candidate will work with other school administrators to resolve student/parent concerns; display good public relations skills; demonstrate excellent school bus routing and scheduling skills; provide oversight of the departmental budget; have the ability to work effectively in stressful situations; plan and implement bus safety programs; and ensures that all department staff are in compliance with NYS Education Department and NYS Department of Motor Vehicles regulations.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered two-year college with at least an Associate's Degree and five (5) years of experience in the maintenance and repair of automotive equipment, operation of multiple passenger vehicles or dispatching of motor equipment, one year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity; OR, Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and seven (7) years of experience in the maintenance and repair of automotive equipment, operation of a multiple passenger vehicle or dispatching of motor equipment, one year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity.DMV 19A Certified Examiner and SED School Bus Driver Instructor (SBDI) Certifications preferred. There is no Civil Service exam requirement at this time. Transportation Director is an approved NYHELPS Civil Service title.
