We are committed to high-quality instruction, a strong sense of community, and the success of every child.Position OverviewThe Elementary Reading Specialist will deliver targeted literacy instruction and interventions, partner with classroom teachers to strengthen Tier 1 practices, and support the district’s RTI/MTSS framework to ensure all learners develop strong foundational reading skills.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide Tier 2/3 small-group and individualized reading interventions aligned to the Science of Reading.Collaborate with classroom teachers to elevate Tier 1 core instruction and differentiate literacy practices.Administer, interpret, and act on universal screeners and progress-monitoring assessments; maintain accurate data records.Participate in RTI/MTSS data meetings; help design intervention plans and monitor fidelity of implementation.Support instruction in phonological awareness, phonics/decoding, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, and writing.Contribute to IEP development and provide services aligned with students’ goals, in collaboration with special education staff.Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and home literacy strategies.Curate and model the effective use of print and digital literacy resources.Uphold all district policies and state/federal regulations.Required QualificationsValid NYS certification in Literacy (Birth–Grade 6) or Reading (K–12)Demonstrated knowledge of the Science of Reading and structured literacy approaches.Experience providing literacy intervention in elementary grades (K–6).Strong assessment and data collection skills.Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.Preferred QualificationsTraining/experience with structured, multisensory approaches Experience supporting multilingual learners and/or special education populations.Familiarity with RTI/MTSS implementation and progress-monitoring tools.Compensation & BenefitsCompetitive salary and comprehensive benefits per the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
