ANTICIPATED OPENING 2024-2025PART TIME MUSIC TEACHER (.4)The Plainview-Old Bethpage Central District Department of Music and Performing Arts is seeking a highly dedicated and collaborative individual to join the music staff the 2024-2025 school year. This position will provide an opportunity to engage students through their music classes and foster a positive environment while maintaining the disposition of being culturally responsive. This position will also provide support for the instrumental program at H.B. Mattlin Middle School.Location: Judy Jacobs Parkway Elementary School/H.B. Mattlin Middle School (as needed)Responsibilities: - General Music Classes for Grades K-4- 4th Grade Chorus with preparation for Winter Concert, Spring Concert, and Graduation- Working directly with the Director of Music and Performing Arts for initiatives and attending required meetings- Working with building administration for special events as per request- Preparing Students for NYSSMA for Voice- Excellent Vocal Pedagogy- Excellent Piano Skills NYSSMA Level 4 and higher- Excellent Guitar Skills are not necessary, but candidates with a background in guitar will be strongly considered- Knowledge of classroom instruments (i.e.: Ukulele, Orff Instruments)- Knowledge of Elementary Choral Literature- Basic knowledge of band and orchestra instruments (NYSSMA Level 1-2)- Create lessons aligned with the New York State Standards for the Arts revolving around Performing, Creating, Responding and Analyzing- Create a positive and engaging, and culturally responsive classroom- Understanding of integrative music technology (such as Sight-Reading Factory)Requirements: - Must have a current and active NYS Department of Education Certificate in Music (K-12)- Excellent communication and organizational skillsStart Date: August 28, 2024Salary: As per teacher contractDeadline: Friday, June 28, 2024
