Duties: Putnam Northern Westchester BOCES anticipates the need for a leave replacement for a Teaching Assistant within the Special Education department. Candidates must be able to assist classroom teachers in the instruction and management of students with disabilities and have the ability to conduct class in the teacher’s absence.Qualifications: Must be properly certified by the New York State Education Department to work as a Teaching Assistant.Characteristics Desired: Must be able to form positive relationships with students. Experience teaching students with various disabilities, especially those transitioning to adult services, preferred. Experience with job readiness preparation preferred. Must be highly organized, dedicated, and able to work independently and in multiple teams. Successful candidates must have a positive, can-do attitude and be committed to the BOCES Mission of Service and Innovation through Partnership.
