Full-Time Special Education Elementary Teacher Position Available for the 2025-2026 Academic Year, Commencing September 1, 2025. The Port Chester Public Schools is seeking qualified and motivated educators to deliver engaging instruction to a diverse student body.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Develops and implements instructional materials suitable for verbal and visual instruction for students with varying cognitive, physical, and emotional developmental levels.Aligns instructional strategies and coaching with Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals, designs, and expected outcomes.Provides individualized and group instruction to meet diverse student needs and ensure a smooth transition to the school environment.Establishes and maintains classroom management standards conducive to active participation in all instructional activities.Evaluates student academic and social progress, maintaining accurate records thereof.Delivers instruction and activities that align with school and district policies, goals, and objectives.Maintains regular communication with parents through various channels.Conducts parent-teacher conferences to discuss individual student progress and interpret the school program.Identifies student needs and collaborates with professional staff in assessing and addressing student health and learning concerns.Creates a conducive learning environment with functional and visually appealing displays, including bulletin boards and interest centers.Maintains professional competency through participation in district-provided in-service education and professional development activities or university coursework.Collaborates with administrators to establish evaluation methods that conform to district guidelines.QUALIFICATIONS:Current New York State certification in Special Education (Grades 1-6 and/or K-12) is required.
