Position Overview:Port Chester-Rye Union Free School District is seeking a qualified and committed Teacher Assistant to serve in a Special Education Special Class classroom. The successful candidate will assist in the delivery of specially designed instruction and support services to students with disabilities, under the direct supervision of a certified Special Education Teacher.Key Responsibilities:- Provide instructional support to students individually and in small groups in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)- Implement strategies and supports outlined by the classroom teacher, related service providers, and the Committee on Special Education (CSE)- Assist with behavioral interventions and data collection as required- Provide personal care or mobility assistance as needed, including toileting and feeding if required by student needs- Monitor student engagement, safety, and conduct throughout the school day, including during transitions, lunch, and recess- Maintain confidentiality and uphold the ethical standards of the district and NYSED- Prepare materials and support classroom organization- Collaborate with staff, parents, and service providers to support student progress- Other related duties as assigned by the School Principal or the Director of Special Education and/or their designee.Minimum Qualifications:- New York State Teaching Assistant Certification (Level I, II, III, or Continuing) is required- High school diploma or GED- Must complete fingerprint clearance through the NYS Education Department prior to employmentPreferred Qualifications:- Experience in a special education setting, particularly in small special education classrooms- Familiarity with IEP implementation and positive behavior supports- Effective communication and interpersonal skills- Experience working with students with autism, developmental delays, and/or behavioral dysregulation is a plus
