It is anticipated that the following position will be available for the remainder of the 2024-2025 school year:Interim Middle School PrincipalThe Port Chester School District is actively seeking a highly qualified and experienced educational leader to fill the position of Interim Middle School Principal. This role is essential to ensure a seamless and effective transition while the district searches for a permanent middle school principal. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in maintaining a positive and productive learning environment for all students and staff.Key ResponsibilitiesChampioning the District's Vision: The interim principal will be a staunch advocate for the district's vision, mission, and goals, ensuring that all school activities and initiatives align with the overarching aim of promoting student achievement and success.Managing Daily Operations: The interim principal will oversee the day-to-day operations of the school, ensuring that all administrative and logistical functions are carried out efficiently and effectively.Observing and Supporting Teachers: The interim principal will conduct regular classroom observations and provide constructive feedback to teachers, to enhance instructional practices and student learning outcomes.Promoting Professional Development: The interim principal will actively support and encourage professional development opportunities for teachers and staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.Cultivating a Positive School Culture: The interim principal will play a key role in fostering a positive, inclusive, and welcoming school culture where all students feel valued, respected, and supported.Building Strong Relationships: The interim principal will work diligently to build and maintain strong relationships with students, parents, teachers, staff, district administrators, and community members.Utilizing Data-Driven Decision-Making: The interim principal will use data to inform instructional decisions, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively and that interventions are targeted to meet the specific needs of students.QualificationsNew York State School Administrator Certification: Candidates must possess a valid NYS School Administrator Certificate (SDL/SDA).Prior Experience as a School Principal and/or Central Office Administrator: Candidates must have previous experience as a successful administrator, demonstrating a proven track record of effective leadership and management.Team Building Skills: The interim principal must have the ability to develop and lead a cohesive and high-performing building administration team.Strong Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills are essential for success in this role.Decisive Leadership: The interim principal must be able to make sound and timely decisions, even inchallenging or ambiguous situations.Knowledge of Current Educational Trends: A deep understanding of current educational trends and best practices is crucial for providing effective leadership and support.The Port Chester School District is committed to providing a high-quality education for all students.
