Port Chester-Rye Union Free School District is seeking a dynamic and experienced educational leader for the position of Middle School Principal. This is a 4-year probationary position, beginning July 1, 2025.Role:The Principal is directly responsible for the overall management, administration, and performance of the Port Chester Middle School. The principal works collaboratively with the three Assistant Principals to maintain the overall building operation and promote its success. The Principal meets regularly with the Assistant Principals, Academic Learning Specialists, Team Leaders, all school planning committees, community and parent groups, as well as district office administration, regarding curriculum, instruction, policies, the promotion of student opportunities, and other relevant matters. The Principal is required to attend all major school functions and be an integral part of the Port Chester Community.Major Functions:Serve as the educational and instructional leader of Port Chester Middle SchoolCoordinate and lead curricular activities and school planning committee activitiesSupervise and evaluate all staff membersSupervise and evaluate the Port Chester Middle School Assistant PrincipalsProvide leadership in initiating, evaluating, and revising school operational proceduresProvide leadership in establishing and maintaining a safe, and highly effective teaching and learning environmentMonitor and analyze all student test results and is responsible for the overall building performanceCreate and develop a building-wide Staff Development Plan and a culture of high expectationsAdminister and coordinate the daily functions of the school including regular contact with school community groups, faculty councils and student organizationsCoordinate and supervise the efforts of the total staff, including teachers, teaching assistants, clerical, custodial and other support staffPrepare and submit the school’s budgetary requests and monitor the expenditure of fundsMake recommendations to the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction, or their designee, with regard to changes in educational programs, administrative organization and middle school policiesEstablish goals for the middle school that are in alignment with district goals, and see them to fruitionProvide leadership in ongoing initiation and evaluation and revision of student learning and enrichment opportunities Develop and coordinate uniform policies and procedures for the buildingResponsible for the creation and the development of the master scheduleResponsible for a uniform, effective testing and grading policy and testing environmentAssure that State regulations pertaining to fire drills, safety, etc. are being carried outResponsible for the creation, publication and distribution of the Faculty, Student, and Parent Handbooks, and building Program of StudiesAttend and have a presence at all major PCMS eventsPerforms any other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools and/or her designeeQualifications:New York State School Building Leader (SBL) or its equivalentA Master’s Degree, or equivalent, with a major in educational administrationFive (5) years of successful teaching experience, and a minimum of three (3) years of successful educational management experienceTo Apply:Interested candidates should submit their application materials through OLAS: https://www.olasjobs.org/jobsDeadline:Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.Port Chester-Rye Union Free School District is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
