Assistant Principal – Middle School (Secondary) The assistant principal will spearhead our efforts to ensure high academic standards with a focus on the social-emotional needs of all students. This individual will be an expert of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, inclusive of technology integration, co- teaching strategies and differentiation to meet individual student needs. This individual will be an exceptional manager, motivating leader, and a strong relationship builder, who has demonstrated exceptional outcomes in a similarly mission-aligned school setting. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Leads colleagues in their professional growth through modeling effective practices, articulating connections between instructional choices and student outcomes, coaching, observing instruction, and providing actionable feedback.Works collaboratively with the building principal to assess current curriculum and instructional practices, identify resources to support academic, social-emotional and technology needs, and has a firm understanding of Google suite and its uses.Organizes the work of teacher teams and creates ongoing opportunities for shared leadership regarding protocols, team leader roles, and collaborative strategies.Works collaboratively with leadership to develop both long-term and short-term strategic plans to support school growth and improvement aligned with district goals and the school vision. Guides and supports the implementation of our assessment systems and supports the staff in being strategic in the use of data to inform and improve instruction.Promotes a school environment that is safe and conducive to individualized instruction, student voice, and student learning.Exhibits strong strategic thinking and planning skills, with an ability to manage concurrent projects and priorities effectively.Encourages parental involvement and ensures effective communication with students and parents. Motivates staff and brings a positive tone, an eye for solutions, and an energy for high achieving outcomes.Communicates effectively with both written and verbal interactions; clear, concise, and courageous in giving supportive feedback.Demonstrates a deep belief that all students can thrive in a challenging, high-quality, nurturing, and supportive learning environment. Prepares master schedule, teacher schedules, student schedules, and organizes extracurricular activities.All other duties as determined by the building principal, superintendent, or his/her designee.QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED A Master's Degree in Education, SAS or SBL New York State Certification, and a minimum of five years of successful classroom teaching and/or two years of previous experience in leadershipExperience with restorative practices, culturally responsive, and sustaining pedagogy, trauma informed practices, and have strong beliefs in social-emotional learning valuesBilingual English-Spanish preferred Applications must be submitted before June 9, 2023.
