Candidates are expected to possess strong interpersonal skills and have the ability to collaborate with colleagues to have a lasting impact on the educational setting. Candidates are considered based on their demonstrated ability to do the following: 1. Establish and maintain a rapport with students and families that fosters a classroom environment conducive to learning and addresses behavioral concerns using a restorative approach.2. Develop and implement units of study by using the Understanding by Design framework and address skills aligned to the Common Core Learning Standards.3. Prepare culturally relevant lessons that are student-centered and address the needs of diverse learners.4. Utilize Webb’s Depth of Knowledge to structure student activities and assignments and embed instructional practices aligned with current educational research.5. Conduct and utilize ongoing assessments of student achievement, using both formative and summative assessments.6. Use technology to strengthen the teaching and learning process.7. Use systems to maintain accurate records that are visible to students and families.8. Attend staff and in-service meetings/workshops as required.9. Actively pursue personal and professional growth opportunities10. Promote and abide by school procedures, policies, and directives in administrative and educational matters as established by the school administration and board of education.
