City School District of New RochelleEmbracing Diversity: Driving SuccessThe City School District of New Rochelle educates over 11,000 students starting in pre-K through 12thgrade from a multitude of backgrounds. The seven elementary schools and two middle schools alleventually filter into the flagship high school that sits on a picturesque property of twin lakes andbrilliantly colored sports fields. Our district views physical education as an essential means to support wellness through the enjoymentof sports and leisure activities. We stress the importance of communication through cooperativeteam-building activities and a wide variety of instructional practices to ensure every class, every day isinclusive and challenging both physically and cognitively. We seek to employ an individual who is a pioneer in both fields of physical education and health and isdually certified to challenge students and colleagues alike to be at their best. Must be NYS Certified in Physical Education and Health EducationResponsibilities: Develop unit plans that include a well-rounded approach to the domains of learning, physicaleducation, character development, physical fitness, and leisure activities. Draw on an extensive repertoire of instructional strategies to promote clear learning targets andcontent-specific outcomes aligned with national and state standards for all learners includingdifferentiation for language learners and students with disabilities. Collaborate with colleagues on the use of facilities and units of study. Integrate SEL practices into the instruction of sports, leisure, recreation activities, and games. Progress monitor students to support full participation in class and facilitate outreach strategiesfor students who are not on track for appropriate credit accumulation. Maintain record-keeping on student completion of assignments, student progress in learning,and non-instructional records. Establish and maintain parent communication. Seek out opportunities for professional development and solicit feedback on practice from bothsupervisors and colleagues. Establish a role within the department for decision-making and help ensure that such decisionsare based on the highest professional standards.
