City School District of New Rochelle Embracing Diversity: Driving Success The City School District of New Rochelle is seeking a Certified Reading or Special Education Teacher to provide Direct Reading Instruction for students at the High School level. Duties include helping students read fluently, comprehend what they're reading, and train them in phonetics, spelling, grammar, and vocabulary memorization. Multisensory reading instruction combines listening, speaking, reading, and a tactile or kinesthetic activity. Phonics instruction lends itself to multisensory teaching techniques, because these techniques can be used to focus children's attention on the sequence of letters in printed words.
