Support administration of TABE pre-assessment, as necessary Dates/times TBD.Provide daily instruction to NRHS AHSEP/GED students per school/program calendar. The City School District of New Rochelle is seeking Secondary (9-12) certified English, Math, Science, Social Studies, English as a New Language (ENL) and Special Education Teachers, and a School Counselor for the Alternative High School Equivalency Preparation (AHSEP) expanded learning program in 2023-24. The instructional components of the AHSEP program will include high school level academic instruction as well as contextualized workforce development activities that are designed to reinforce or develop job related skills, test taking strategies, study skills and blended learning including communication skills, technology competency, and career/college readiness that will prepare students to be successful on the GED® Test. AHSEP Program teachers will work with selected students during our Night School program in an intensive and supportive instructional atmosphere for older students. In addition to the reinforcement of core skills, AHSEP students will also participate in regular College & Career Counseling sessions. Requirements:Bachelor’s Degree and valid New York State teaching certificate and license, as required by contract. AHSEP Program Teacher Roles and Responsibilities:Participate in the engagement of stakeholdersEngage in opportunities to learn, create and then execute the implementation of AHSEP program units of study and explorationCommunicate regularly with students, families, and PPS regarding AHSEP student attendance, progress, needs, etc.Attend mandatory central office and/or building training sessionsReceive instructional feedback to support teaching and learningDifferentiate instruction for learners in the classroom setting.Collaborate with site leader and building administration as needed to build and strengthen the AHSEP learning community Use data to differentiate instructional practices and plan small group instructionManage classroom systems, procedures and expectations that support site policiesInfluence student behavior using a restorative approachParticipate in scheduled meetings and professional learning opportunities AHSEP Program Teacher/Counselor Qualities and Values: Dedicated and adaptable- willing to do whatever it takes to support older, non-traditional students to achieve their high school diplomaPassionate about helping students ignite new skills, knowledge and interests Excited to learn new practices and build instructional competencies Utilize reflection and data to ensure collective growth, change, and continuous improvement.
