The Department of Special Education at Nassau BOCES has an anticipated opening for a Library Media Specialist. The successful candidate must have experience curating and managing a dynamic school library program that support the New York State Learning Standards and district curriculum. RESPONSIBILITIES: Collaborate with teachers to design and implement instruction that integrates information literacy, digital citizenship, and research skills. Promote a reading culture by facilitating reading programs and book clubs. Teach students how to locate, evaluate, and ethically use information from a variety of sources. Maintain the library collection, including selection, acquisition, cataloging, and weeding of materials. Ensure students and staff have equitable access to a wide range of print and digital records. Maintain the library technology tools and online databases; provide tech support and training as needed. REQUIREMENTS: Valid New York State certification as a School Library Media Specialist (Library Science - All Grades).Master's degree in library and information science from an accredited program. Knowledge of current educational technology, digital tools, and library automation systems. Strong interpersonal, communications, and collaboration skills.Passion for literacy, student engagement, and innovation in education.
