The ideal candidate must be able to supervise PPS and school counseling staff, provide professional development and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and collaborative skills to effectively work with staff, students, districts and families to facilitate maximum student growth.RESPONSIBILITIES:The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following: Oversight of department-wide PPS and School Counseling program, including hiring, observation, evaluation and supervision of PPS and school counselors. Provide guidance pertaining to current New York State Education Department requirements for credits, diplomas and exiting credentials, including multiple pathways. Monitor annual articulation of students across programs and annual program counseling plans in collaboration with program administrators. Assist program administrators and clinical staff in appropriately addressing student mental health and wellness needs through curriculum and instruction, compile annual student outcome data and make recommendations for curriculum, instruction and coordinated transition activities. Maintain, expand and develop new educational and professional partnerships for student opportunities for post-secondary and work-based learning with local colleges and businesses. Assist stakeholders and provide guidance, leadership and training for transition planning aligned to all New York State mandates and requirements. Support core transition teams, counselors and vocational rehabilitation counselors with relevant training and supervision of all student programming, partnerships and work-based learning opportunities. Perform all other duties as requested by Central Office. REQUIREMENTS:New York State Education Department – School District Leader (SDL) / School District Administrator (SDA). New York State Education Department Certification – School Psychologist, School Social Worker or School Counselor. Demonstrated leadership skills as an experienced school psychologist, school social worker or school counselor. Experience working with the special needs population is preferred.
