The Department of Curriculum, Instruction and Technology is seeking a school social worker to provide services to students in various BOCES programs or non-public schools throughout Nassau County. The social worker will work closely with the administration of the assigned school(s). Students benefiting from this service may include those with social, emotional, behavioral, and/or learning challenges. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:• Participate in the Committee for Special Education (CSE) process for students at various locations• Provide individual and/or group counseling sessions for students• Respond to crisis situations and provide appropriate referrals and consultation• Collaborate with all members of the school community and participate in staff meetings• Maintain accurate, appropriate, and timely records and reportsRequirements:• NYSED Certification as a School Social Worker is required• Valid and current LMSW or LCSW license is required• Strong written and verbal communication skills are required• Two or more years of related experience is preferred
