Middleburgh Central School District is seeking a passionate and dynamic Secondary Special Education Teacher with certification in Students with Disabilities (Grades 7–12). We are looking for a creative, innovative educator who is dedicated to fostering student growth, promoting independence, and creating a positive, engaging learning environment for secondary students. Position Details Role: Secondary Special Education Teacher Students: Grades 7–12 Start Date: September 1, 2026 Application Deadline: We are conducting interviews as applications are submitted, so please apply by the close of business on July 10, 2026. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to secondary students, including a strong focus on transition planning for post-secondary life. Provide specialized instruction, co-teaching support, and accommodations in general education and special education settings. Collaborate with general education content teachers, parents, guidance counselors, and support staff to ensure student success. Assess student progress, utilize data to adjust instruction, and prepare students for state assessments and graduation requirements. Maintain accurate records, documentation, and progress monitoring reports. Qualifications and Skills New York State certification in Students with Disabilities (Grades 7–12). Demonstrated understanding of adolescent development and secondary education principles. Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and transition service requirements. Experience with various learning disabilities, behavioral needs, and effective teaching strategies at the secondary level. Excellent communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills. Patience, flexibility, and a strong commitment to helping students achieve independence. Appointment Details: 10 month; 4-year probationary track appointment. Comprehensive benefits package.
