Notice of Anticipated VacancyFebruary 2, 2026 Probationary School Psychologist Shelter RockThis position is available September 1, 2026 Position Description: Manhasset Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and student centered School Psychologist to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our students. This role involves supporting the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral growth of every child through assessments, individualized interventions, and social-emotional learning programs. The psychologist collaborates closely with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams, using strong written and interpersonal communication skills to clearly convey findings, recommendations, and strategies. By fostering a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment, this psychologist will ensure all students have the support they need to thrive. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Conduct assessments to evaluate students’ cognitive, emotional, adaptive, and behavioral functioning. Review, develop, and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and monitor progress toward goals. Meet with families and guardians to discuss assessment results, student progress, and recommended interventions. Plan and implement Individualized Education Programs and Section 504 plans to support students’ emotional, social, and behavioral development. Develop and facilitate skills-building or social-emotional learning groups for students. Provide consultation, collaboration, and training to teachers, staff, related service providers, building administration, and specialists to support student success. Chair Committee on Special Education (CSE) meetings and participate in multidisciplinary school teams related to supporting students’ diverse learning and behavioral needs (e.g. Instructional Support Team, Student Response Team, etc.). Document student progress, interventions, and outcomes in compliance with federal and state regulations. Qualifications: New York State School Psychologist certification required. Knowledge of federal and NYSED regulations related to special education, CSE chairing experience, and familiarity with Frontline IEP preferred. The position requires strong, written, and verbal communication skills.
