Notice of Anticipated VacancyDecember 7, 2022 DIRECTOR OF PRESCHOOL, ELEMENTARY SPECIAL EDUCATION AND PUPIL PERSONNEL SERVICESThis position is available immediately or on July 1, 2023. The Manhasset School District, a premier nationally recognized school district on the North Shore of Long Island, seeks a highly qualified Director of Preschool, Elementary Special Education and Pupil Personnel Services. The ideal candidate is experienced, organized, detail oriented, and possess a string knowledge of all aspects of a comprehensive preschool and elementary program for students with disabilities, ensuring compliance with Federal and State Regulations; direct involvement in student services to include homeless, homebound, homeschool, and out-of-district placements. The successful candidate must have leadership experience, strong interpersonal and communication skills and problem-solving abilities. This is a 12-month position, working 212 days, and reports to the Assistant Superintendent for Student Services. This position is a member of the Administrative bargaining group. Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree and New York State School District Administrator (SDA) or School District Leader (SDL) certification. Candidates must have a demonstrated record of success as a school district or school building administrator. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Directs, evaluates, and coordinates the District’s Universal Pre-K, and preschool and elementary special education programs, including extended school day and extended school year servicesSupervises all department faculty, support staff, and related service providersMeets with building administration (public & non-public) and participates in building-level activities, which includes providing input into Response to Intervention (RtI) programs for “at-risk” studentsCoordinates transition activities associated with Early Intervention (EI) to Pre-school (CPSE), and CPSE to CSE servicesInterfaces with various County and State agenciesEstablishes and maintains positive relationships with families, faculty and staff,Assists in the identification, planning, programming, placement and assessment of students with disabilities Section 504 Accommodation plans, Pre-school (CPSE), and School-age (CSE) committee recommendationsManages day-to-day expenses associated with the provision of elementary special education programs and servicesDevelops and submits quality control planning of department, district, and SED daily, weekly, monthly and yearly activity reports to ensure compliance with District policies, department’s practices and proceduresAssesses curricular and instructional trends and implements best practices as related to Special Education and PPS, including NYS Learning Standards, IDEA, and RtI Qualified candidates should apply via OLAS with a letter of intent, proof of NYS certification, and resume by January 5, 2023 to: Allison M.
