Notice of Immediate VacancyMarch 12, 2024 Short -Term Leave Replacement School Social Worker:March 15, 2024 – April 26, 2024 Manhasset Secondary School Position Description: The successful individual is responsible for supporting students and advocating for each student’s emotional, mental, and physical wellbeing, and educational growth. The duties include but are not limited to:Providing direct support to students in the form of individual counseling, group counseling, conflict mediation, and crisis intervention.Offering strategies to maximize coping skills for students in difficult situations.Assisting in the development of positive behavioral intervention strategies.Collaboration with faculty, staff, and administration to understand student’s struggles and /or distress.Providing faculty and staff with training on mental health support, including restorative practices, crisis intervention, and mandated reporting.Contributing to members of educational meetings to include social histories and documentation of social and emotional wellbeing.Scheduling home visits with families on an as-needed basis to address attendance and/or other socio-emotional concerns.Identifying and providing students and families with appropriate information and referrals for State, regional, and community-based services (e.g., mental health services, housing, food, etc.)Supporting the school community during crisis events/situations.Qualifications: Appropriate New York State Certification is required. Salary as per MEA contracts.
