Notice of Anticipated VacancyNovember 21, 2023 Middle School Librarian Manhasset Secondary SchoolFull Time probationary position available January 2, 2024Position Description:Plan, teach, and evaluate cooperatively with the classroom teacher to provide an integrated program of library media and classroom instruction.Communicate with all staff members concerning their curricular objectives, units of study, and the resource services of the library media center.Use a variety of instructional methods with different user groups and demonstrate the effective use of newer media and technologies.Assist students to independently identify, locate, and interpret resources housed in and outside the library media center.Promotes an appreciation of literature by encouraging, supporting, and extending student reading interests.Responsible for all aspects of the daily operation of the library media center.Design, organize, and maintain the library media center so that access to resources and create a positive learning atmosphere.Review, select, acquire, organize, and circulate resources that support the curriculum and the full range of student interests, backgrounds, and abilities in accordance with Board policy.Make resources available to students and teachers through a systematically developed collection within the school and through access to resources outside the school.Maintain an inventory of print and non-print materials and equipment. Qualifications: New York State certification as a school library media specialist required. MA in Library Information Science is required.
