Assistant Principal LOCATION: Mamaroneck High School The Mamaroneck Union Free School District seeks collaborative, equity-minded employees who commit to develop knowledge, skills, and practices to create culturally responsive learning and working environments. Fostering and maintaining these beliefs supports high expectations and an ethic of care for all students and employees – where differences are seen as strengths to be nourished, celebrated, and welcomed.RESPONSIBILITIES: Serving as a part of a school’s leadership team, provides supervision to all members of the faculty, staff, and student body.Supporting building principal in data analysis to inform program development and implementation.Providing feedback for teachers to improve both their content knowledge and use of effective instructional strategies as part of the observation and evaluation process.Building the overall capacity of the faculty and staff to meet the learning needs of all students.Ensuring alignment of the instructional program with district and school goals for improvement. Communicating and collaborating with colleagues, staff, parents, board members, and central administration around curriculum, teaching, learning, and student needs.Proactively working and responding to needs in the school community.Supporting and addressing students, staff, and parent needs/concerns.Promoting a school environment that is safe, welcoming, inclusive, and affirming for all students and staff members.Address student needs and concerns including facilitating and assisting in DASA investigations.Assisting in the implementation of restorative practices in the school.Communicating effectively orally and in writing.Other duties as assigned by the MHS principal.POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: In depth knowledge of social emotional learning approaches and experience in implementing SEL to cultivate a school that is affirming, inclusive, and welcoming.Teacher and/or administrator leadership experience, including the leading of professional development.Demonstrated knowledge of NYS Culturally Responsive-Sustaining Frameworks. Ability to analyze data to improve school practices and student learning outcomes.Ability to engage in self-reflection with regard to performance and professional growth; actively seeks professional learning opportunities.Minimum of 5 years successful teaching/counseling experience.Bilingual English-Spanish is strongly encouraged.Valid New York State School Building (SBL) or School Administrator/Supervisor (SAS) certification.
