The Director of DEI will partner with the District Administrators to support schools in meeting their goals related to diversity, inclusion, equity and belonging. RESPONSIBILITIES: Stakeholder EngagementCollaborate with community and district stakeholders to develop, implement and monitor programs designed to ensure fair and equitable treatment of individuals. Serve as a coordinator and liaison to develop mutually beneficial relationships and partnerships with community organizations that surround issues of equity. Facilitate opportunities for student voice in matters related to diversity, equity and inclusion. Assist in improving community-wide engagement with diverse populations. Respond to issues and inquiries from district staff, students, and parents regarding educational equity for the purpose of identifying the relevant issues and recommending or implementing a plan of action that will effectively address the issue.Develop and share informational presentations and participate in collaborative conversations with the Board of Education, administrators, parents and the community. Advance the Board of Education’s Equity policy.Recruiting, Networking, Hiring, and RetainingAssist the Assistant Superintendent of Administration and Personnel and other administrators in recruiting and hiring diverse faculty and staff by networking with and maintaining regular contact with potential candidates Support the experience of historically marginalized staff in order to improve retention, job satisfaction, and their psychological safety and well-beingIn collaboration with administrators, supervise and evaluate teachers on a regular basis in accordance with the District’s Annual Professional Performance Review (APPR) Plan. Work with administrators and teachers to organize and facilitate DEI-focused faculty and department meetings.Curriculum and Instruction Promote, advise upon, and support curriculum development and instructional practices that are culturally responsiveCollaborate with faculty members and departments to insure curriculum is designed with multiple perspectivesIdentify practices in classroom instruction practices that contribute to disproportionate outcomes for historically underrepresented/marginalized students for the purpose of providing recommendations and support to administrators and teachers. Develop sustainable practices that work to maintain high achievement and eliminate the racial and economic predictability and disproportionality that occupy the lowest and highest achievement categories.POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrates a deep understanding and expertise of DEIConfidence in facilitating, presenting, and speaking to both internal and external audiences Proven track record of creating, leading, and implementing DEI strategies with multiple stakeholders Excellent written and verbal skills; ability to turn data into insights and a compelling narrative Ability to interact and influence at all levels, drive change, and work on multiple initiatives simultaneouslyNYS School District Administration/School District Leader CertificationMinimum of five years teaching experienceExperience designing and implementing professional development opportunities Demonstrated knowledge of NYS Culturally Responsive-Sustaining Frameworks Ability to analyze data to improve instructional practice and student learning outcomes REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction APPLICATION DEADLINE: May 1, 2023Ethnically, culturally, and linguistically diverse candidates are welcome and encouraged to apply.
