The Locust Valley Central School District is looking for a Leave Replacement MS Biology Teacher (Grades 7, 8) to join our team in providing a safe, nurturing and challenging classroom environment devoted to helping all students reach their full potential. Duties and Responsibilities:The teacher is responsible for the well-being and safety of the students, taking attendance, maintaining a functioning classroom, utilizing classroom management skills, leaving a clean classroom, and teaching the provided curriculum.Develop lesson plans and assignments consistent with the regular teacher's past lesson plans provided by the regular teacher to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience for students. Help refine Biology lesson plans.Manage the classroom effectively to encourage student participation, minimize distractions and maintain a positive learning environment.Administering tests and assignments.Creating interactive, collaborative classroom environments.Communicating with parents and colleagues.Attending meetings and maintaining professional development standards.Provide in-class and at-home assignments based on the available lesson plan.Work Hours:This leave replacement position is in our Middle School with an anticipated start date of Nov 18, 2024 through Jun 30, 2025.Qualifications:Teaching experience in Biology.Bachelor's degree in Biology, Science or related field.Proven leadership, organizational, written, and oral communication skills.Ability to engage, motivate and challenge students.Understanding of modern teaching techniques and use of classroom technologies.Training and Education:NYS Certification in BiologySalary:As per LVSEA Teachers contractInterested Candidates:Post a cover letter, resume and 2 professional references.Posting Deadline:November 15, 2024.
