Locust Valley is seeking a dynamic and student-centered Assistant Director for Curriculum & Instruction to join our leadership team. This position plays a critical role in aligning district operations with instructional priorities and ensuring coherence across all district initiatives. The Assistant Director for Curriculum & Instruction will report to the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction to support strategic planning, implementation, and continuous improvement of instructional and operational systems. REQUIREMENTS : NYS Administrative Certification School District Leader and/or School District Leader (required to be eligible) RESPONSIBILITIES : Collaborate with the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction to align operational systems with district instructional priorities Partner with building principals and coordinators to drive K-12 professional development, targeted planning, and program development Supervise and strengthen the K–12 Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) to ensure effective academic, behavioral, and social-emotional interventions Support the management and compliance of federal Title grant programs, ensuring strategic allocation of resources to support student achievement and district priorities Support school scheduling and staffing processes, working in collaboration with Human Resources and building administrators to ensure effective staffing and program implementation Oversee instructional technology integration to enhance teaching, learning, and operational efficiency Lead development and monitoring of required district and state plans, including the Professional Development Plan, AIS Plan, and Technology Plan Oversee state reporting and compliance requirements, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to district and state regulations Ensure alignment of operational practices with instructional goals to promote continuous improvement Serve as the district’s Records Access Officer, overseeing Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests and ensure compliance Perform other responsibilities as delegated by the superintendent QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrated leadership experience in K–12 education, operations, or instructional leadership Prior teaching or leadership experience at the elementary school level Strong knowledge of MTSS, state reporting systems, and compliance requirements Experience in scheduling, staffing, and human resource collaboration in a school setting Knowledge of federal and state grant programs (Title funding preferred) Experience with instructional technology integration and professional development planning Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills Ability to lead collaboratively in a fast-paced, student-centered environment Special Education and Elementary and/or literacy certification preferred
