PROBATIONARYCOORDINATOR OF PUPIL PERSONNEL SERVICES The Locust Valley Central School District is seeking a highly qualified leader to join our outstanding staff as the Coordinator of Pupil Personnel Services. The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to provide visionary and collaborative leadership, meaningful professional development and highly effective supervision for all levels of instruction. Candidates must:have at least 3 years’ experience as a successful teacher of special education or school psychologist; experience as a successful building or district administrator is preferred;communicate exemplarily and forge strong relationships with all members of the school community;demonstrate experience in leadership opportunities that have enabled him/her to influence others to work collaboratively and to promote innovation and risk-taking;possess a strong understanding of the role of the CSE/CPSE Chairperson and have experience leading CSE/CPSE and 504 meetings.interpret and apply current Federal and NYS Law and Commissioner’s Regulations regarding special education and student support services;demonstrate current, accurate knowledge regarding CPSE and CSE regulations, effective IEP creation/monitoring/ implementation, MTSS/RTI best practices and Alternative Assessments;supervise staff and have strong knowledge of APPR regulations;adhere to a child-centered philosophy, with proven ability as a rigorous academic leader, innovative planner and effective communicator;have knowledge and experience with Life Skills programs, alternate placement options and service provider recruitment/oversight;demonstrate ability to assist in overseeing the special education budget and State reporting. * Diverse candidates are encouraged to apply. Major Responsibilities:Support Supervision of Special Education programsObserve special education teachers, speech therapists, BCBAParticipate in hiring process for professional special education staff Co-facilitate department meetings for special education personnelSupport and assist in scheduling of professional development for special education personnelProvide instructional support to special education teachersAssist in facilitating transition process for studentsAssist in determining instructional personnel needs Assist in planning and supervision of ESY programs/servicesIn collaboration with buildings, determine TA needs and participate in hiring of TAsAssist in observation of TAsAssist in supervision of after-school SAIL programTesting ResponsibilitiesSend communication to families about testing accommodation requests for College Board and ACT examsSubmit testing accommodation requests electronically through College Board and ACT dashboardsShare testing accommodation needs with District’s testing coordinator(s)Support Supervision of Reading programsObserve reading teachersParticipate in hiring process for reading teachersCo-facilitate department meetings Support professional developmentCSE ChairpersonChairperson of initial CSE meetingsChair meetings where there are concerns, disagreements, or legal representationQuality control and finalization of all secondary level IEPs and PWNs504 Committee membersAttend meetings where there are concerns, disagreements, or legal representationQuality control and finalization of all secondary level 504 plans CERTIFICATION:NYS School District Leader (SDL) or School District Administrator (SDA) SALARY:According to contract between District and Administrator’s Unit
