LSS offers competitive compensation and benefits, excellent learning, and development opportunities.WHO YOU CAN BECOME: The Teacher Aide is a full-time, 35-hour a week, 10-month (school calendar), non-exempt, and hourly position that will assist with student achievement and successful engagement in all aspects of their educational program. Such assistance provided could be in the classroom, or in other areas of their school day program. Their interventions will be consistent with the strategies identified in the student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP) and Individual Crisis Management Plan (ICMP). While primary instruction rests with the teacher, the Teacher Aide will support student’s ability to engage in the learning process and display behaviors which foster success. Since non-classroom issues may negatively impact a student’s ability to learn, they may be assigned to provide support outside of the classroom or beyond the traditional school day.WHAT YOU’LL DO: Follow assigned schedule.Be familiar with IEPs and ICMPs.Work closely with the Educational Services Team, Day Services Team, and Residential Services Teams to assure support provided to the student is consistent with overall strategies in place.Complete assigned documentation in a timely and professional manner.Demonstrate professional behaviors which provide positive role modeling.Attend all required training, meetings, and agency events.Work toward New York State (NYS) certification requirements, and continue to engage in professional development activities, to assure familiarity with best practices and effective strategies as a Teacher Aide.WHAT YOU NEED: High School Diploma or equivalent.Experience with emotionally and behaviorally challenging adolescent population. WHO ARE YOU:Possess good organizational and communication skills.Able to work in a team environment.Show knowledge of effective strategies to support academic skill development and appropriate student behaviors.Able to interact with students in a way which supports their success by enhancing motivation and effort.Accepting of work direction and able to follow rules and guidelines.Able to provide supervision to students in individual, small, or large group settings.WHAT WE OFFER:Start at 12 sick days per year and other leave time available dependent on the circumstances.Health/Medical Insurance - Single (LSS covers 100% of cost) / 2-person/family (LSS covers 50% of coverage)Dental Insurance - Single (LSS covers 100% of cost) / 2-person/family (LSS covers 50% of cost)Life Insurance - LSS covers 100% of cost at $50,000.
