The Hyde Park Central School District is seeking a dedicated and qualified Special Education Teacher to join our team for an anticipated vacancy at the middle school level. We celebrate diversity and foster a sense of belonging for all students, emphasizing the importance of contributing to the greater community.Tentative Assignment: Haviland Middle SchoolKey Responsibilities:- Provide specially designed instruction to students with disabilities in accordance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and NYSED regulations.- Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusive practices and co-teaching models.- Implement accommodations, modifications, and behavior support plans as outlined in students’ IEPs.- Use data to monitor student progress and adjust instruction as needed.- Communicate regularly with families, related service providers, and other members of the CSE team.- Maintain accurate and timely documentation including IEP development, progress reports, and classroom records.- Participate in team meetings, professional development, and school-based initiatives.- Promote a positive and respectful learning environment that supports the social-emotional and academic development of all students.Qualifications:Required:- Valid New York State Certification in Special Education (All Grades, SE 5-9 extension, K-12 SE), or Students with Disabilities Certification- Knowledge of and experience with IEP development and implementation.- Experience in inclusive classrooms, co-teaching, and differentiated instruction.Preferred:- Experience working with diverse learners in a secondary school setting.- Familiarity with restorative practices, culturally responsive pedagogy, and evidence-based instructional strategies.- AVID experience is a plusHyde Park Central School District is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
