We are seeking a passionate and dedicated high school Biology or Chemistry Teacher to join our team for the 2025/2026 school year from January through June. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of life science and/or physical science concepts and science research and high school science research programs. This candidate would have a proven ability to create an engaging and stimulating learning environment for diverse learners and to build meaningful relationships with students. We are looking for an educator committed to integrating technology effectively to enhance instruction, foster student collaboration, and personalize learning experiences. Responsibilities as a Science Research Coordinator:Provide leadership and oversight for the Science Research program, ensuring continued success of the current and entering students in the program. Support all advanced (11th grade) and independent (12th grade) science research students in developing, writing and presenting their research outside of a classroom setting through one-on-one and group meetings.Support rising juniors and seniors to secure summer science research placements to conduct novel and authentic research.Collaborate with other introductory and intermediate science research teachers to ensure the success of the students in the science research program.Coordinate all operational tasks related to the science research program including but not limited to student participation in science research competitions such as Regeneron STS, Long Island Science and Engineering Fair (LISEF), New York State Science and Engineering Fair (NYSSEF) and other local competitions.Prepare students for and attend student science research competitions that occur during school hours, afterschool and on weekends.Qualifications: Valid New York State Teaching Certificate. Experience teaching Biology and/or Chemistry at the high school level preferred. Experience teaching science research at the high school level preferred and/or a background in science research preferred. Experience with coordinating a high school science research program preferred. Demonstrated proficiency in using technology to enhance instruction and engage students (e.g., Google Workspace, Smart Boards, Chromebooks, etc.)Strong classroom management skills and the ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
