We are seeking a passionate and dedicated reading teacher to cover a leave of absence in our elementary school. This position requires a highly collaborative individual who will work closely with colleagues to ensure our students develop the essential skills needed to excel in reading. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of evidence-based reading practices, experience with structured literacy approaches, and a commitment to differentiating instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of all students.Responsibilities:Provide direct, explicit, and systematic reading instruction to students in kindergarten and grades 1 - 5, supporting their growth in:Encoding and Decoding: Phonics, phonemic awareness, and word attack skillsComprehension: Literal and inferential comprehension strategiesVocabulary: Acquisition of tier 1, 2, and 3 vocabulariesFluency: Accuracy, rate, and prosodyCollaborate with classroom teachers to plan and implement integrated reading instruction, aligning with classroom curriculum.Administer and analyze reading assessments to diagnose student needs and monitor progress.Utilize data to inform instruction and differentiate learning experiences.Create a positive and supportive learning environment that fosters a love of reading.Maintain accurate student records and communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.Qualifications:Experience teaching reading in an elementary school setting.Deep understanding of the science of reading and structured literacy approaches.Preferred: Experience with multi-sensory reading programs such as Wilson, Just Words, Spire, or similar programs.Strong data analysis skills and the ability to use data to drive instructional decisions.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
